At the commonwealth 2024, Fiji’s Nehemiah Elder made history by setting a new record and winning a gold medal in the youth and junior category.

Additionally , he secured a silver medal in the highly competitive senior 89kg category.

Fifteen-year-old Marist Brothers High School student and Fiji’s Young Male Athlete of the Year, Elder, broke his own Oceania Youth snatch record of 125kg, set earlier this year in New Zealand.

In a remarkable display, he lifted 141kg on his third attempt, after starting with 135kg and narrowly missing 140kg on his second try.

Elder's record-breaking performance not only solidifies his position as a rising star in weightlifting but also highlights his potential for future international success, making Fiji proud on the global stage.
