Fiji Seismology has confirmed 20 earthquakes in the Northern Division over the past 24 hours, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 3.8.

Most of these quakes occurred offshore Vanua Levu, along the Fiji Fracture Zone, the country’s most active seismic area.

According to Fiji Seismology, daily seismic activity in this region is normal due to its geological setting.

Additionally, six earthquakes were recorded in the Savusavu Bay region overnight, part of an ongoing seismic swarm affecting the area.

These quakes, measuring between 1.5 and 2.4 in magnitude, included two back-to-back 2.4 magnitude events at 7:25 PM.

Residents in Wailevu West, Cakaudrove Province, reported feeling the tremors.

While the quakes are not considered alarming, Fiji Seismology has reminded the public of the country’s location in a highly active seismic zone and emphasized the importance of earthquake preparedness.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
