The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced a dengue fever outbreak in the Western Division due to a sharp increase in cases.
Since the start of this year, 200 cases have been reported, with most affecting people aged 10 to 29 years.
Health officials have put a Dengue Action Plan in place and are closely monitoring the situation. Dengue cases usually rise during the rainy season, from October to April, and after bad weather.
Medical teams in the Western Division have been alerted to quickly identify, treat, and refer dengue patients when needed. Trained outbreak response teams are also investigating and working to control the spread.
The Ministry urges everyone to learn about dengue fever, take precautions, and seek medical help early if they have symptoms.
