21 People Charged for Serious Crimes in February, Including Five Juveniles

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has reported that 21 people, including five juveniles, were charged with 24 counts of serious crimes in February 2025.
A total of 16 indictments were filed in the High Court for offences including manslaughter, aggravated robbery, burglary, aggravated burglary, theft, arson, act with intent to cause grievous harm, grievous harm, failure to give fingerprint to a public officer, giving false information to a public officer, and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Among the notable cases, a 38-year-old man was charged with manslaughter after allegedly punching and kicking a 30-year-old man, resulting in fatal injuries.
In another incident, a 26-year-old man was charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly stealing $8,000 from a 69-year-old victim and providing false information to police.
Additionally, an 18-year-old man was charged with intent to cause grievous harm after allegedly attacking a 33-year-old man with an iron rod, while a 43-year-old man was charged with grievous harm for allegedly injuring a 50-year-old man.
Various cases of aggravated robbery and burglary were also reported, with suspects allegedly stealing cash and valuables from homes, businesses, and individuals.
Five juveniles were among those charged.
A 14-year-old boy was found in possession of 6.8 grams of cannabis and charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Two 17-year-olds allegedly broke into a school and stole stationery, a brush cutter, and extension cords.
Another 17-year-old, along with an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old, was charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly robbing a 38-year-old man of his mobile phone and $373 in cash.
The ODPP also noted that three cases were discontinued after Nolle Prosequi was filed due to insufficient evidence.
No police officers were charged in February, and there were no incidents involving domestic relations.
The report clarified that sexual violence offences were not included, as they are published separately.
