Fiji Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations line Minister, Agni Deo Singh, has walked the full 20 kilometres from Nausori to Suva, joining hundreds of Fijians in raising funds for children battling cancer.

He completed the journey during the CFL Foundation Charity Walk, describing the experience as “heartwarming” as people from across the country turned out in support of the cause.

Close to $80,000 had already been raised before the walk began, with funds going towards supporting children living with cancer through initiatives such as WOWS Kids Fiji, which assists families with treatment and care.

Singh, who was among the oldest participants, completed the walk without issue, alongside members of the public, volunteers and organisations.

“It was great to see so many of our people from different walks of life uniting to undertake this walk in support of a truly noble cause,” he said.

He said the event showed that the Bula spirit that binds Fijians together remains strong.

The Minister has been involved in fundraising efforts for more than two decades, supporting causes such as WOWS Kids Fiji, Pinktober and Movember, including leading annual initiatives during his time with the Fiji Teachers Union and continuing similar efforts with Ministry staff in recent years.

“Every small contribution matters, because for these children and their families, it can make a real difference in their fight,” he said.

He stressed that the walk was not about any one person, but about the children and families facing the harsh realities of cancer.

“It’s about the children who go through the horrifying effects of this illness and the support they need,” he said.

The final total raised from the CFL Foundation Charity Walk is expected to increase as nationwide collections continue.
