Fiji’s Foreign Reserves Hit Record $3.9 Billion

Fiji’s Foreign Reserves Hit Record $3.9 Billion

Fiji’s foreign reserves have reached $3.9 billion, the highest nominal dollar value recorded in the country’s history.

The record level provides Fiji with a stronger financial buffer against external shocks and reflects continued economic activity and financial inflows.

The milestone comes as Fiji continues to navigate global economic challenges, including the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, volatile fuel prices, rising food costs and ongoing pressure on global supply chains.

The Government says maintaining reserves at this level demonstrates the resilience of Fiji’s economy and strengthens its ability to withstand disruptions originating beyond the country’s borders.

It also recognised the contribution of businesses, investors, workers and communities in keeping economic activity moving.

The Government says the record foreign reserves are a significant achievement for Fiji and an important indicator of the country’s economic resilience amid an uncertain global environment.
