Inter-Druggies Championship
The 2026 Inter-District Championship (IDC) is fast earning the nickname “Inter-Druggies Championship” after a staggering 24 players returned positive drug screening results in just three days of competition.
Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammed Yusuf confirmed the alarming figures, with positive results recorded across the Super Premier, Premier, and Senior divisions.
Even more embarrassing is that some of those caught are repeat offenders, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of Fiji FA’s disciplinary system.
A 17-year-old player is also reportedly among those who tested positive, highlighting the worrying extent of the problem within the sport.
Drug-related incidents are nothing new in Fiji football, with positive tests recorded at major tournaments year after year despite repeated warnings, suspensions, and promises of tougher action.
With 24 positive screenings in just three days, what should have been a celebration of Fiji’s football talent has instead become another embarrassing chapter for the country.
