No Ba $5 Note, Says Reserve Bank

The Reserve Bank of Fiji has ruled out issuing a commemorative $5 note after Ba team sponsor Jay Dayaal jokingly suggested one to celebrate Ba FC’s four-title season.

In a Facebook post labelled “#satire”, Dayaal suggested the note would feature Ba’s interim president Praneel Dayal alongside four trophies.

Responding, the RBF acknowledged the passion, teamwork and pride behind Ba’s achievements but confirmed there would be no new note.

“As much as we appreciate the passion, teamwork and pride of winning four tournaments there will be no new $5 note issued by the Reserve Bank of Fiji,” it stated.

The bank reminded the public that official currency announcements would be made through its official channels and with proper consultation.
