Patel Hails Successful 2026 Extra BOG, Congratulates Ba on Triumph

Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel has hailed the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants as a successful tournament, paying tribute to everyone who contributed to the event.

Speaking during the closing ceremony at the 4R Stadium in Ba, Patel thanked the fans for turning out to support the tournament, as well as the players, team officials, ball boys and girls, security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes.

He also acknowledged the directors of Extra for their continued support of the Battle of the Giants and Fiji football.

Patel congratulated Rewa for producing a wonderful performance in the final and offered his commiserations to the Delta Tigers after they fell short of lifting the title.

He reserved special praise for champions Ba, congratulating the Men in Black on another major achievement.

Patel said Ba are now on the verge of completing a clean sweep of the major domestic titles, but warned that their success would also make them the team everyone wants to beat.

With the Inter-District Championship (IDC) coming up next month in Suva, Patel said the other districts would be gunning for Ba as the Men in Black look to continue their impressive run of form and chase further silverware.

The challenge for Ba will now be to maintain their standards as attention shifts to the IDC.

The 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants concluded after five matchdays of football at the 4R Stadium, with Ba emerging as champions in front of their home supporters.
