PS Nemani Pays Tribute to Late Minister Singh

Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations Maritino Nemani has paid tribute to the late Minister Agni Deo Singh, remembering him as a dedicated leader and advocate for workers who continued serving Fijians until the very end.

Nemani said Singh was not only a great Minister but also a great human being, with the pair sharing a strong working partnership at the Ministry.

“He was a great Minister, a great human being and someone with whom I shared a strong partnership in the Ministry,” Nemani said.

He said Singh dedicated much of his life to standing up for workers and improving the lives of ordinary Fijians.

Nemani highlighted their work together to strengthen Fiji’s voice on labour issues across the Pacific, including through the establishment of the Pacific Labour Ministers Meeting.

He said it was a proud moment to see those efforts receive further recognition at the Pacific Islands Forum earlier this month.

Nemani said Singh’s commitment to workers remained evident right until his final moments, as he was in Queensland engaging with Fijian workers under the Pacific Labour Mobility programme.

“True to his strong-willed character and lifelong commitment to workers, even in his final moments he was in Queensland serving our people and engaging with Fijian workers under the Pacific Labour Mobility programme,” Nemani said.

“He served Fiji and its workers until the very end.”Nemani said Singh’s leadership, compassion and friendship would be deeply missed.

He extended his deepest condolences to Mrs Singh, Singh’s children and grandchildren.

“Rest in peace, Honourable Minister,” Nemani said.
