The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation following the discovery of missing cocaine exhibits that were being held in the custody of the Suva High Court.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Loraini Seru said a physical inspection of the exhibits was carried out on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the presence of senior judiciary officials, a senior official from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, police officers and an officer from the Crime Scene Investigations Unit.

The inspection was conducted after concerns arose over the exhibits linked to a high-profile drug case.

Police said the inspection found that the exhibits had allegedly been tampered with.

It was also discovered that seven bars were missing from the original 39 bars that had been presented and stored in the Suva High Court Exhibit Room.

The CID has since assigned a team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the missing exhibits and the alleged tampering.
