Acting Prime Minister Filimoni Vosarogo has strongly condemned an incident in Vusasivo, Cakaudrove, where civil servants were allegedly assaulted and a government vehicle stoned while officers were carrying out official duties.
Mr Vosarogo, who is also the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, described the attack as “totally unacceptable” and said those responsible must be held accountable.
“Do not touch civil servants. Civil servants come to work for you, and if this is how they are treated while bringing public service to your community, then don’t blame them if they choose not to attend to your needs and concerns,” he said.
He reminded communities that government workers deliver essential services on behalf of the public and deserve respect and cooperation when carrying out their duties.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
