Australian Government's Safety Warning for Travelers to Fiji Still in Place
FIJI NEWSWORLD

The Australian government continues to warn its citizens about the dangers of visiting Fiji.
The travel advisory highlights safety concerns, urging Australians to exercise heightened caution while visiting Fiji.
The advisory reads:
"Exercise a high degree of caution in Fiji due to high crime levels.
Pay close attention to your safety and surroundings, particularly at night and in urban areas such as Suva.
Crimes such as robbery, theft, violent assault, and sexual assault have been reported.
Avoid leaving food or drinks unattended to prevent drinking spiking and seek immediate medical help if you feel unwell after consuming beverages. Methanol poisoning in locally brewed alcohol is also a risk."
The warning encourages travelers to take precautions, including securing belongings, avoiding isolated areas, and remaining vigilant, especially in busier urban centers like downtown Suva.
By staying informed and following safety measures, tourists can enjoy Fiji’s hospitality and natural beauty while minimizing risks.
The warnings were issues early 2023 and continue to remain in place.
We have sent questions to the Australian Embassy on whether they will increase the alert level.
