The crisis in Ba football has escalated, with eight clubs under the Ba Regional League holding an emergency meeting on Tuesday night to demand the immediate removal of the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA)-appointed interim Ba FA committee.

In a show of unity, the clubs – representing a majority of Ba’s footballing base – passed a resolution refusing to recognize the authority of the current interim leadership and are now formally calling for a Special General Meeting (SGM) to be held within 14 days.

The move follows growing dissatisfaction with the direction of the district’s football, particularly after Ba’s early and embarrassing exit from the 2025 Fiji FACT tournament after just two matches, becoming the first team to be eliminated. The team is also suffering through one of the worst league campaigns in its proud history, intensifying calls for a change in leadership.

Only one member of the interim board – the Director of Regional League – was reportedly present at the emergency meeting, while the absence of other officials further angered clubs.

Club representatives also raised concerns about the Fiji FA’s ongoing refusal to allow democratic elections, instead continuing to extend the mandate of the interim committee without local input or consent. Many view this as a blatant disregard for the voice of the district clubs.

To make matters worse, there are allegations that interim officials interfered with team selections during the Fiji FACT, including claims that a senior figure altered the match lineup and issued direct instructions to the coach. These claims remain unverified but are contributing to the overall unrest.

The resolution and demands have been submitted to the interim committee, and clubs now await a response.

Duavata News has sent questions to the Fiji Football Association and interim Ba FA president Divesh “Diva” Singh regarding the situation and the growing pressure for change.

This is a developing story.
