The Ba Football Association is taking an innovative step toward professionalising its operations by introducing a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role to strengthen its structure, commercial growth, and long-term development.

Ba FA President Praneel Dayal described the move as part of a broader vision to modernise one of Fiji’s most successful football institutions while preserving its proud legacy.

“Ba Football isn’t just a club to me — it’s a legacy,” Dayal said. “It’s the heartbeat of our town and the pride of every person who wears the black jersey.”

Known as the “Men in Black,” Ba has long been a dominant force in Fiji football. However, Dayal said the association must now adopt modern systems and professional management to match its history and future ambitions.

“I’ve been on the ground, working across every department, from the sidelines to the boardroom, to keep the wheels turning,” he said.

“My vision is clear: I want to transform Ba Football Association into a truly professional setup. We have the history; now we need the modern infrastructure, the commercial growth, and the elite management to match it.”

Dayal said the CEO role will go beyond traditional corporate responsibilities, calling for a leader who understands both football and the community.

“This isn’t your typical corporate 9-to-5. I’m looking for someone who doesn’t just see a balance sheet but sees the potential in every kid playing barefoot at Govind Park,” he said.

According to Dayal, the ideal candidate must combine strong business skills with a deep passion for Ba Football and its community.

The association is seeking a leader capable of strengthening sponsorships, improving operations, managing people effectively, and driving sustainable growth.

The CEO will work closely with Dayal in guiding the association’s transition from a traditional model to a fully professional sporting organisation, while strengthening community engagement and enhancing performance on and off the field.

“We want our fans and the people of Ba to feel more connected to the team than ever before,” Dayal said.

He emphasised that the initiative is about building a sustainable future for the club, not just winning titles.

“Success isn’t just about winning trophies; it’s about building something that lasts. We aren’t just looking for a manager — we are looking for a leader to help return Ba to the pinnacle of Pacific football.”
