Biman Prasad Meets New Tui Lau to Discuss Development and Unity

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad has hosted the newly installed Tui Nayau and Tui Lau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, for a courtesy visit at his office.

The meeting marked a significant moment in the strengthening of ties between traditional leadership and government, with discussions centred on shared aspirations for the future of the Lau group and Fiji more broadly.

According to a statement shared by Professor Prasad, the engagement provided an opportunity to reflect on mutual goals, including development, unity, and the advancement of communities in the Lau Province.

The visit follows the formal installation of Ratu Tevita earlier this month, a move widely regarded as a revival of chiefly leadership in the Lau islands with historic and cultural significance.
