British Acting High Commissioner Meets Tui Nayau and Lau Delegation

British Acting High Commissioner Steph Lysaght has hosted the Gone Turaga na Tui Nayau, Ratu Tevita Kapaiwai Uluilakeba Mara, and a delegation from the Lau Islands for discussions on issues affecting Fiji.

The delegation included Yatu Lau Chairman Viliame Leqa, Lau Provincial Roko Tui Jioji Kalounivalu and Kelepi Gucake.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the British High Commission and Lau representatives to exchange perspectives on Fiji’s changing social, economic and development landscape.

Discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges facing modern Fiji, while also providing an opportunity for representatives from the Lau Islands to share their perspectives and experiences.

The engagement highlights the importance of dialogue between diplomatic representatives and Fiji’s traditional and community leadership.

The meeting also provided a platform to strengthen understanding and cooperation on issues of mutual interest between Fiji and the United Kingdom.
