Businessman Nahroon Buksh has pleaded not guilty to charges of Obtaining a Financial Advantage by Deception, following accusations brought by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

The charge alleges that between December 2020 and August 2021, Buksh falsely presented himself as a licensed real estate agent and sold a property in Kinoya that did not belong to him.

He is accused of deceiving a couple who were interested in purchasing the property, resulting in a financial gain of FJD $6,000.

FICAC counsel, Ms. Lavenia Ravuikadavu, informed the court that the trial is expected to last one week, with 13 witnesses scheduled to testify.

The case has been adjourned to February 3, 2025, and Buksh’s bail has been extended.
