Calling Someone ‘Bald’ Could Be Sexual Harassment

A UK employment tribunal has ruled that calling a man “bald” in the workplace can amount to sexual harassment.
The decision came after a case involving an employee who said he was insulted by a supervisor using the term during a heated exchange.
The tribunal found that because baldness is far more common among men than women, the remark was connected to the man’s sex and could be considered harassment under the Equality Act.
The ruling means that workplace insults targeting a person’s baldness may now fall under sex-related harassment, similar to comments about appearance that create a hostile or demeaning environment.
