Canada and Mexico Folded: Tariffs Paused for 30 Days
WORLD

In the ongoing trade war,U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed to pause tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods for 30 days following discussions with their leaders.
This decision comes after Trump imposed significant tariffs on imports from both countries, aiming to address issues like illegal immigration and the flow of fentanyl.
During a recent phone call, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Trump discussed the pause, which follows Canada's commitment to a $1.3 billion border plan.
This plan includes appointing a "Fentanyl Czar," enhancing border security with new technology and personnel, and launching a joint strike force with the U.S. to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.
It's worth noting that Texas alone has a remarkably large economy, with a GDP of approximately $2.7 trillion as of 2024.
This makes Texas' economy larger than Canada's, which has a GDP of around $2.14 trillion.
This economic strength gives Texas significant leverage in trade and economic discussions.
