Canada has officially opened its High Commission in Suva, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations and diplomatic engagement between Canada, Fiji, and the wider Pacific region.
The High Commission, located at 37 Gladstone Road, was formally opened this morning by Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development, Hon. Randeep Sarai, together with Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade (Designate), Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka.
Speaking at the opening, Minister Ditoka said the establishment of the Canadian High Commission sends a clear signal that Canada values its partnership with Fiji and is committed to maintaining a strong and active presence in the Pacific.
He said the move reflects growing cooperation between the two countries across areas such as development, climate action, regional security, and people-to-people links, while also reinforcing Fiji’s role as a key diplomatic hub in the region.
