Celebrating Pacific Unity: Fiji Hosts State Banquet for Tongan Royals

A state banquet was held at the State House last night in honour of the visiting King and Queen of Tonga, Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u, marking a significant moment in the longstanding relationship between Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga.

The event was hosted by the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, and the First Lady, Her Excellency Emily Lalabalavu. The evening brought together key leaders and dignitaries, including Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and his wife Mrs. Sulueti Rabuka, Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.

In a toast delivered on behalf of the government and the people of Fiji, Prime Minister Rabuka conveyed warm wishes for the continued good health of Their Majesties and the ongoing prosperity of the Tongan people.

He also expressed Fiji’s deep appreciation for the royal visit, reaffirming the shared cultural, historical, and familial ties that bind the two Pacific nations together.
