The Chinese Embassy in Fiji hosted a special Morning Tea in celebration of International Women's Day, themed “Beijing+30: Accelerate Action for Women Empowerment.”
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the First Lady of Fiji, Mrs. Emily Lalabalavu, Mrs. Sulueti Rabuka, and Mrs. Elina Jitoko, whose pivotal roles in women’s empowerment were highlighted throughout the ceremony.
The event began with an introductory video, followed by remarks from Ambassador Zhou Jian of China, who emphasized the significance of women’s contributions to society and the importance of continuing efforts toward gender equality. “Women are creators of human civilization and drivers of social progress. Without women, there would be no continuity of the human race or human society,” he stated.
The First Lady, Mrs. Lalabalavu, along with Mrs. Rabuka and Mrs. Jitoko, were acknowledged for their ongoing leadership and advocacy in promoting women’s rights and opportunities in Fiji.
A key moment of the event came with the donation of 10,000 Fijian dollars to the Fiji Women’s National Rugby Team, demonstrating China’s continued support for women’s sports and empowerment.
The event concluded with cultural performances, refreshments, and a group photo, celebrating women’s achievements and calling for further progress in the global movement for gender equality.
