The College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, proudly celebrated the success of 33 individuals who have passed the Fiji Veterinary Examinations, officially qualifying them to register as veterinary professionals.

Among the successful candidates is Asitosh Chand, who described the achievement as the culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice.

“It feels amazing—this certificate represents years of dedication, long nights of study, and countless hours in the clinic. It’s a proud moment to officially be recognized as a veterinary surgeon,” Chand said.

He paid tribute to the many people and experiences that shaped his journey.

“I’d like to thank my family for their unwavering support, my mentors who guided me, my colleagues who encouraged me, and of course the clients and their pets who gave me the experience to grow into this profession,” he added.

Chand, who is already a well known figure in the animal rights scene in Fiji, also revealed that he is preparing to further his studies overseas, with plans to pursue a Master’s in Veterinary Epidemiology at the Royal Veterinary College in London.

“I want to strengthen my knowledge in animal health and disease control so I can return to Fiji better equipped to improve animal welfare and contribute to One Health,” he said.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways congratulated Chand and his colleagues, calling their hard work and commitment “truly inspiring.” Officials said the 33 new veterinarians will play a vital role in improving animal health, supporting agriculture, and protecting food security in Fiji.
