Charges Against Me Are Fake, Says Camillo
FIJI NEWS

Aspiring politician Abel Camillo has claimed that assault charges against him are false after being remanded in custody by the Nadi Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Camillo appeared in court charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an alleged breach of a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO).
It is alleged that on January 31 in Nadi, Camillo assaulted a relative following a heated argument. The court also heard there was an alleged breach of a domestic violence restraining order involving the complainants.
Police prosecutor Constable Jeremiah Labalaba objected to bail, informing the court that the accused lives with both complainants. Magistrate Mareta Tikoisuva subsequently revoked bail and remanded Camillo in custody.
Following his remand, Camillo issued a public statement strongly criticising the justice system and appealing for public support.
Camillo said:
“My fight has been sabotaged with lies and a justice system which doesn't care about family.
The State and Police need to be reviewed.
The justice system doesn't listen to honest, hard-working fathers.
Visit me in Natabua Remand on Tuesday or Thursday.
Help my family.
Pray for me, Viti.
I love you all.”
Camillo is currently being held at the Natabua Remand Centre. The matter has been adjourned to March 3 for mention at the Nadi Magistrates Court.
