Chelsea captain Reece James will miss the team’s Premier League match against Leicester City this weekend due to a new injury.

James had already missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury but returned to action last month against Liverpool.

He also played in games against Newcastle United, Manchester United, and came off the bench against Arsenal before the international break.

However, the 24-year-old defender has suffered another injury in training this week.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed it is a muscle issue related to his hamstring.

“It’s a small problem, and we don’t want to take any risks for the weekend,” Maresca said on Thursday.

“He felt something a couple of days ago. He needs to rest and avoid further strain, but sometimes injuries happen despite efforts to prevent them. We hope he will be available for the next match, but he won’t be ready for this one,” Maresca added.
