Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association (FA) after being tested positive for a banned substance.

The FA contacted Chelsea after finding harmful substance in the routine urine test of the Ukraine international.

Mudryk has expressed his surprise at the outcome and denies intentionally utilizing any prohibited substances.

"This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened," Mudryk wrote on Instagram.

"I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon."

The date of the test has not yet been disclosed by the FA.

Players found guilty of intentionally using banned substance can face up to a four-year ban.

It was earlier stated that Mudryk’s absence was due to illness, he hasn’t played for Chelsea since November 28.

Mudryk, signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for up to £89 million in 2023, has scored 10 goals in 73 appearances for Chelsea.

The Professional Footballers' Association is expected to offer him support.
