Heavy rain did not dampen the spirits of volunteers from the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Lautoka branch, who turned out in numbers for their regular city clean-up campaign Saturday morning last week.

30 church members gathered in Lautoka city to help keep the streets clean and protect the environment.

Working along the route from SPD through Navutu to the main roundabout and towards the Natabua junction, the volunteers collected plastic, bottles, cans and paper waste from roadsides and drains.

Despite the steady downpour, the group filled 12 large sacks of rubbish, showing strong commitment to their community.

The clean-up was carried out with the support of the Lautoka City Council, which also assisted with rubbish collection and disposal.

Church representatives said the activity was about more than just cleaning the streets. It was also about caring for the environment, teaching children responsibility, and putting faith into action through service to others.

“Our goal is to help keep Lautoka clean, reduce pollution, and show love to our community through practical action,” a church spokesperson said.

The Shincheonji Church says it will continue its regular clean-up campaigns and explore more volunteer activities to support the well-being of Lautoka residents.
