As the nation prepares to mark the Easter weekend, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, has extended warm wishes to all Fijians, encouraging reflection and connection during this sacred time.

“Easter is a sacred holiday for Christians that symbolises sacrifice, forgiveness, and grace,” he said.

“We hope all Fijians will reflect on these values during the long weekend and take time to connect with family and loved ones.”

In a gesture of appreciation to government workers, Professor Prasad also announced that civil servants would receive their salaries a day earlier than usual.

“To all civil servants, as a gesture of appreciation for your hard work and commitment, and to help you enjoy the Easter weekend, the Ministry of Finance is processing civil service salaries a day early,” he stated. “These should be deposited into your accounts before midday today.”

Professor Prasad concluded his message by wishing all Fijians a peaceful and blessed Easter.
