Coordinator of the FWCC Shamima Ali Criticizes Cabinet Appointments and Missed Opportunities for Leadership Change
FIJI NEWS

Shamima Ali, Coordinator of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, has expressed disappointment over the current state of government leadership, questioning the necessity of the large cabinet and the inclusion of opposition members who were previously voted out.
Ali, who celebrated the 2022 election results with enthusiasm, now feels let down by the lack of progress, particularly in promoting women and young people in government.
She also criticized the government’s focus on constitutional changes, arguing that the country’s top lawyers could address such matters without political maneuvering.
Ali emphasized the need to prioritize pressing issues to bring relief to citizens, rather than focusing on what she perceives as politically motivated decisions.
