Counter Narcotics Officer Charged Over Methamphetamine Importation

Another police officer attached to the Counter Narcotics Bureau has been charged in connection with the alleged unlawful importation of over four kilograms of methamphetamine.

According to police, the drugs were seized during a joint operation involving the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.

The accused, a man in his 30s, has been charged with one count of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs under Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.

He is expected to appear at the Nadi Magistrates Court today.

This latest arrest brings the total number of people charged by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Major Crime Unit to six.
