The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, has officially retired, marking the end of an esteemed policing career that spanned over three decades.
DCP Chew was farewelled last week by Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Rusiate Tudravu and senior members of the Fiji Police Force, in recognition of his 36 years of loyal and dedicated service.
In his tribute, Commissioner Tudravu acknowledged the vital role played by DCP Chew during a challenging period for the organization.
“We are here to farewell someone who was able to steer the organisation through a difficult period. As someone observing from outside, I know it was not easy,” said Mr. Tudravu.
“Leadership is a lonely position, and I understand the scrutiny he endured while serving as Acting Commissioner. We wish you well—retirement is the beginning of a new journey. Thank you for your leadership.”
Reflecting on his journey, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner shared heartfelt gratitude for the opportunities and growth he experienced during his tenure.
“I remember walking into Nasova 36 years ago with just the clothes on my back and a few items in my backpack. That was all I had. Now, I’m leaving with skills, knowledge, respect, family, and so much more—thanks to the Fiji Police Force,” said Mr. Chew.
He added that he would continue to support the organization in any way possible and urged fellow officers to prioritize planning for retirement and maintaining their health.
“Once again, thank you—and as we always say, ‘Blues forever.’ May the good Lord bless you and your families.”
