Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, will take part in the flagship climate security panel at the upcoming Pacific Regional and National Security Conference, set for 14–16 July at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva.

The invitation was extended by Professor Dave Peebles, Director of the Pacific Security College at the Australian National University, during his visit to Suva this week.

Professor Prasad will join regional leaders in high-level discussions on the growing security threats posed by climate change, an issue at the heart of Pacific priorities.

The Pacific Security College remains a key partner for Forum members, including Fiji, in advancing the Boe Declaration on Regional Security, which recognises climate change as the region’s most pressing security concern.
