Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu has warned individuals making threats on social media to stay calm and allow the police to handle the situation.
“Emotions are still high, but taking matters into your own hands will only make things worse,” said ACP Driu.
He urged everyone to remain calm and let the police do their work.
ACP Driu confirmed that police have started rounding up some people involved in the situation and continue to search for others.
“Last night, we arrested one of the bouncers involved, and he is currently in custody,” he added.
A team of officers from Totogo Police Station has been in Namatakula Village gathering statements from witnesses and individuals involved in the incident.
ACP Driu appealed for cooperation from all parties, urging them to provide statements and evidence to help with the investigation.
He also mentioned that police are closely monitoring social media posts and will be on standby to ensure no one takes the law into their own hands.
As the New Year approaches, ACP Driu reassured the public that the police will remain vigilant to ensure the safety of everyone.
