$10,000 Boost for Women’s Rugby on International Women's Day

In a powerful show of support for women’s empowerment and sports development, the Ambassador of China to Fiji, His Excellency Zhou Jian, donated $10,000 to the Fiji Women’s Rugby Team during a celebration of International Women’s Day.
The donation highlights China’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in all areas of life.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Zhou expressed his admiration for the achievements of women in both Fiji and China, saying, “Women are creators of human civilization and drivers of social progress. Without women, there would be no continuity of the human race or human society.” He also acknowledged Fiji's women, who are making significant contributions across various sectors, including politics, sports, and education.
To demonstrate China’s firm support for women’s development in Fiji, the Chinese Embassy in Fiji donated 10,000 Fijian dollars to the Fiji Women’s National Rugby Team.
This generous contribution will assist the team in their continued efforts and success in women’s rugby.
Ambassador Zhou continued, “China is a doer in promoting women’s development. From health to education, and from economic empowerment to legal protections, China has made significant strides in advancing gender equality.” He also highlighted the success of Chinese women, mentioning figures like astronaut Liu Yang, athlete Zhu Ting, and scientist Tu Youyou, who have all showcased the power and potential of women.
