Dr Hasmukh Lal to Conclude Tenure as TSLS CEO On 14 July

The Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Hasmukh Lal, will officially conclude his tenure on Monday, 14 July 2025.
According to a statement released by TSLS, Dr Lal tendered his resignation on 1 May 2025, and will now step down after leading the organisation through a period of transformation and innovation in tertiary education services across Fiji.
The TSLS Board acknowledged Dr Lal’s contributions, highlighting his efforts in widening access to tertiary education, improving internal systems, and enhancing operational excellence. His leadership was credited with better support for both local and overseas scholarship recipients.
“It has been an honour to lead TSLS towards transformation and growth,” Dr Lal said in the release. “I am grateful to the Government, Board, staff, and partners for their support throughout my tenure. I leave knowing that TSLS is well-positioned to continue serving the people of Fiji through operational excellence.”
Dr Lal also confirmed his intention to transition to the private sector and expressed his appreciation to the Board for offering him a renewed contract until 2028.
His tenure has been defined by “transformative vision, data-driven leadership, and a strong commitment to service excellence and equity in education,” the TSLS Board stated, adding that his initiatives have made the institution more inclusive and efficient, aligning with national human capital development goals.
The Board expressed full support for Dr Lal’s career move and confidence in the institution’s continued effectiveness during the transition period.
