It was an emotional moment at the Ministry of Finance as Biman Prasad DPM bid farewell to his team after officially resigning from his role as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.

In a post shared by the National Federation Party (NFP), the party said:

“Politics is service. At times, service demands sacrifice and commitment.

The true rewards of service are not measured in money or power — they are found in the trust, respect, and goodwill of the people.

NFP Leader Professor Prasad extends his heartfelt gratitude to his family, friends, and the public for their overwhelming messages of support, kindness, and recognition of his work.”

In his official statement, Hon. Prasad confirmed that he resigned in light of charges filed by FICAC but pledged to deal with the matter “in the shortest possible time and in accordance with proper legal process.” He expressed confidence in his legal team and appreciation to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for his personal support during this time.

“This is just one more of those challenges to be dealt with calmly, patiently, and as swiftly as possible,” he said, adding that he remains committed to serving the people from the backbench in Parliament.
