Employers in Savusavu have voiced their concerns about a new Employment Relations Bill that proposes double pay and an alternative day off for employees working on public holidays.

They argue that this requirement could negatively impact business operations and sustainability in the long run.

The Ministry of Employment has emphasized that the Bill is still in its proposal stage, inviting stakeholders and the public to share their opinions through consultations or written submissions.

The Bill also suggests increasing annual leave entitlements from 10 to 12 days, which is expected to benefit both workers and employers.

Consultations are being conducted in various locations to inform people about the proposed amendments to the Employment Relations Act 2007 and the Work Care Bill 2024.
