Extra Supermarket Hails Successful Battle of the Giants Tournament

Extra Supermarket has hailed the successful conclusion of the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants, following two weekends of competitive football and strong support from fans.

Extra Supermarket Chief Marketing Officer Lailanie Burnes thanked the Fiji Football Association, participating teams, players, officials and supporters for their contribution towards the tournament.

Burnes said the competition once again showcased Fiji’s passion for football, with supporters turning out to back their teams throughout the tournament.

Another significant moment during the tournament period was Seqaqa’s historic promotion to the Extra Premier League after defeating Tavua on penalties in the Extra Senior League playoff. It marks the first time Seqaqa will compete in Fiji’s top-flight domestic football competition.

Fans were also treated to the Extra Pre-Match Show, which added to the match-day experience while providing a platform to showcase local talent both on and off the field.

Burnes said Extra Supermarket’s involvement in football extends beyond the Battle of the Giants, with the company supporting competitions across senior, youth and futsal levels.

These include the Extra Premier League, Extra Senior League, Extra U16 Boys Youth League, Extra U19 Boys Youth League, Extra Futsal League, Extra Futsal IDC and Extra Bula FC.

She said investing across different levels of the game is important in creating opportunities for players to develop, compete and pursue their football ambitions.

Extra Supermarket also congratulated 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants champions Ba, along with all teams, coaches, officials and supporters who played a part in the tournament.

The successful tournament further highlighted football’s strong following in Fiji and the contribution corporate partnerships continue to make towards the development of the sport.
