Farmer Remanded in Custody Over Alleged Rape of Virgin Australia Crew Member

A 24-year-old farmer accused of raping and sexually assaulting a Virgin Australia crew member near a nightclub in Martintar, Nadi, on New Year’s Day has been remanded in custody by the Nadi Magistrates Court.

Ilaisa Tanoa, from Bemana in Navosa, faces one charge of sexual assault and one count of rape.

Magistrate Mareta Tikoisuva has instructed Tanoa to file a formal bail application in the High Court.

The case has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court and will be heard on January 20.
