Fiji Activates Emergency Operations Centre as Middle East Tensions Escalate
FIJI NEWSWORLD

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade has activated an Emergency Operations Centre at its headquarters in Suva as Fiji continues to closely monitor the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
In a statement released today, the Ministry confirmed that there are currently no reports of Fijian nationals being directly affected by the recent incidents in the region.
Officials say Fiji’s diplomatic missions are maintaining close contact with Fijians overseas. The Fiji Embassy in Jerusalem and the Fiji Embassy in Abu Dhabi are working with local authorities while keeping communication channels open with Fijian nationals.
The Ministry said the activation of the Emergency Operations Centre will allow government agencies to coordinate monitoring efforts and respond quickly should the situation worsen.
A contingency plan has also been prepared to ensure that appropriate consular support can be provided to Fijians in the region if required.
The Government says the safety and wellbeing of its citizens remains a top priority.
