Cabinet has endorsed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Maritime Security and five Implementing Arrangements (IAs) with the Government of Australia, focused on the continued provision and support of Guardian-Class Patrol Boats (GPBs).

This updated agreement builds on the initial MOU signed in 2020 and includes enhanced support from Australia, with approximately A$4 million annually allocated for the planned maintenance of Fiji’s patrol boats—an increase of A$1.5 million from previous arrangements.

Additionally, Australia will provide A$480,000 to cover fuel and provisions for Fiji’s participation in regional maritime exercises and operations.
