A delegation from the Royal Solomon Islands Police RSIPF is in Fiji to conduct a scoping exercise of the Fiji Police Force's training division.
The delegation led by the RSPIF Chief Superintendent of Police Stanley Riolo met with the Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu earlier this week, outlining the purpose of their scoping visit as one of learning and the sharing of best practices.
Chief Superintendent Riolo conveyed the RSIPF’s appreciation for the learning and exchange opportunity as they look to reform their own training institution and capabilities.
Termed also as a diagnostic visit, the RSPIF team is hoping to gain practical experience, identify gaps in their own training approaches, and return home to implement findings contextualised to the Solomon Islands policing landscape.
Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said it was imperative for Pacific law enforcement to collaborate in all areas that would strengthen policing approaches, noting the shared security challenges faced in the region.
Commissioner Tudravu said the FPF also gains from similar collaboration efforts in the training field with regional partners the Australian Federal Police, New Zealand Police, assuring the RSIPF delegation of Fiji's continued support to similar exchanges in the future.
