Fiji and Solomon Islands Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka met with his Solomon Islands counterpart, Honourable Jeremiah Manele, in Suva this week to reaffirm the close ties between the two countries.

Rabuka thanked the Solomon Islands Government for warmly welcoming Fiji’s High Commissioner, Jackson Evans, and acknowledged the strong diplomatic and people-to-people relations between the two nations.

He also praised the Solomon Islands' active participation in the recent 23rd Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Leaders’ Summit, and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthening MSG efforts, including the recruitment of a new Director General.

Rabuka congratulated the Solomon Islands on the soft launch of its new chancery in Nasese, calling it a sign of renewed commitment to bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Manele, in response, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to working with Fiji on shared regional priorities, including trade, climate resilience, and security.
