Fiji and the U.S. share deep-rooted ties that extend beyond the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971.

Our soldiers have fought side by side in two world wars and continue to serve together on UN peacekeeping missions.

This was emphasized by Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka during his meeting with U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer in Washington.

PM Rabuka expressed gratitude to the U.S. for its support in addressing Fiji’s key national priorities, including climate adaptation, defense and security, education, and sustainable economic growth.

The meeting underscored the significance of defense and security cooperation as a vital component of the bilateral relationship.

Senator Cramer, who serves on various committees such as armed services, veteran affairs, and environment and public works, also discussed the importance of collaboration in other areas of mutual interest.

He thanked the Prime Minister for the productive meeting and expressed optimism for increased cooperation between the two nations.
