FIJI NEWS

Fiji has officially concluded its term as Chair of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), capping off a year of notable achievements and strengthened regional cooperation.
During the 67th Session of the APO Governing Body Meeting, Mr. Jone Maritino Nemani, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, formally handed over the chairmanship to India’s Mr. Amardeep Singh Bhatia.
In his parting remarks, PS Nemani reflected on Fiji’s leadership journey from 2024 to 2025, emphasizing the country’s commitment to the APO’s mission and regional progress.
A major highlight of his term was Fiji’s successful hosting of the 65th Workshop Meeting of Heads of National Productivity Organisations in October 2024—an event attended by His Excellency President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manoa Kamikamica.
“Throughout my tenure as Chair, Fiji demonstrated the APO’s strength in stakeholder consultation and swift action—traits rarely seen in bureaucracies,” said PS Nemani.
“This past year reaffirmed what we Fijians have always known: success is not about size, but about the ability of a community to unite and forge a path forward.”
Under Fiji’s leadership, the APO achieved several key milestones:
Led the Task Force on Memoranda of Understanding, culminating in robust guidelines that will pave the way for broader cooperation.
Contributed to the Green Productivity Advisory Council, advancing regional sustainability efforts.
Brought Fijian perspectives to global productivity dialogues through PS Nemani’s participation in the Executive Leadership Program in France.
PS Nemani extended heartfelt thanks to the APO Vice Chairs, Directors, and Secretariat for their collaboration and support, and expressed confidence in the incoming leadership’s continued success.
APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata also commended PS Nemani’s contributions and welcomed the new Chair and leadership team, reaffirming the APO’s dedication to fostering productivity and competitiveness across the Asia-Pacific.
