Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Placed on Leave for Investigation
FIJI NEWS

The Minister for Justice, Hon. Siromi Turaga, has announced that reports of serious incidents and potential breaches within the Fiji Corrections Service have been received.
These allegations concern the governance, security, conduct, management, and administration under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa.
Given the gravity of the situation, with the concurrence of the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Constitutional Offices Commission, Section 22(1) of the Fiji Corrections Service Act 2006 has been invoked.
As a result, Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa has been placed on leave to facilitate a thorough and independent investigation, during which he will retain full entitlements.
Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Auta Moceisuva, will serve as Acting Commissioner in his absence.
The Ministry of Justice is dedicated to restoring faith, good governance, justice, and transparency within the Corrections Services, ensuring the process is conducted diligently, transparently, and in full compliance with the rule of law.
