Fiji’s Defence Minister, Hon. Pio Tikoduadua, joined hundreds of Fijians at My Suva Park on Sunday to celebrate Holi Milan 2025, an event hosted by the High Commission of India and the India-Fiji Friendship Forum.
Speaking as Chief Guest, Tikoduadua emphasized that Holi is more than just a festival of colours—it is a powerful celebration of unity, forgiveness, and renewal. He highlighted its deep connection to Fiji’s inclusive and multicultural identity, recognizing the Indo-Fijian community’s vital role in shaping the nation’s social fabric.
“Nation-building requires more than policies—it demands compassion, mutual respect, and spaces like today’s celebration, where we see each other not as different, but as one,” he said.
Tikoduadua also acknowledged the Indo-Fijian community’s contributions, honoring their values, history, and dedication to Fiji’s progress. He expressed gratitude to the event organizers for fostering cultural harmony and thanked attendees for their warm hospitality.
The celebration attracted a diverse crowd, including families, community leaders, and dignitaries, who enjoyed music, dance, and the traditional throwing of coloured powder. Holi, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring, is widely celebrated in Fiji, reflecting the nation’s deep-rooted cultural diversity.
“Happy Holi to all who celebrate—may we carry its colours in our hearts throughout the year,” Tikoduadua concluded.
Holi Milan continues to serve as a reminder of Fiji’s unity in diversity, bringing communities together in the spirit of joy and inclusivity.
