Fiji Extends Deepest Sympathies and Support to Vanuatu Following Devastating Earthquake.

The Honourable Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, has expressed Fiji’s sincere condolences to the people of Vanuatu following a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck yesterday.

He stated that he was deeply saddened by the news, which has claimed lives of families in Vanuatu.

“I extend my sincere condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I wish those injured a quick recovery,”

“We pray for the safe evacuation and well-being of all those affected by this disaster and we extend our deepest sympathies to those who have lost loved ones.”

PM Rabuka also acknowledged the efforts of the first responders and volunteers assisting those affected.

“I wish them well in their mammoth task, and also commend volunteer organisations, churches and religious bodies taking part in the rescue and evacuation effort to care for those affected,” he added.

He further assured that Fijian government stands ready to assist Vanuatu in any way possible.

The Prime Minister urged all Fijian nationals in Vanuatu to contact Fiji’s National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for support.
