During his annual visit to Fijian workers in Tauranga under the New Zealand Recognised Seasonal Employer Work Scheme, the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, Hon. Agni Deo Singh, extended the Government’s heartfelt gratitude to seasonal workers employed with Eastpack and Seeka.

“On behalf of the Government, I sincerely thank you for your hard work and commitment to your families and communities back home,” Minister Singh told the assembled workers on Monday, May 5.

Minister Singh also acknowledged the role of approved employers in ensuring that Fijian workers receive fair and respectful treatment while in New Zealand. “The Ministry, as the Labour Sending Unit, will continue to engage actively with you to support your well-being,” he said, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to maintaining close ties with its overseas workforce.

In his address, the Minister reminded workers that adherence to local rules and ethical behavior is paramount not only to securing ongoing employment but also to preserving Fiji’s international reputation.

He encouraged all workers to support one another and to seek assistance whenever needed, emphasizing that unity and mutual aid strengthen both individual and collective success.

Further discussions during the visit covered key employment issues, including FNPF deductions, hours of work and overtime, rostered days off and work availability, the grievance process, as well as financial planning and responsible spending.

These sessions underscored the Fiji Government’s dedication to equipping its seasonal workforce with the information and resources necessary for a safe, productive, and rewarding experience abroad.
